Collagen is one of biomaterials, composed with fibrous protein component. So, they become responsible for the functional integrity of tissues such as bone, cartilage, and skin. It is possible to obtain the collagen fiber, type(Ⅰ), from the porcine skin by the biological and separational purification method. The focus of this study is to show the influence of surface charge density on the bioactivity of modified collagen fiber surface. Because the charge density of collagen fiber surface is important properties for biocompatible and biodegradable application and the properties are important in the reaction ability with living tissues. Zeta potential has traditionally been measured by electrophoresis method. Zeta potential of poly-methylmetacrylate(PMMA) collagen was measured as a function of pH. The results shows that a shift in zeta potential vs. pH and the iso-electric point was shifted. |
