Microfluidic Generation of Emulsion Droplets for Materials Fabrication and Protein Crystallization |
초록 |
Emulsion droplets with well-defined properties can be produced continuously in micro-scale devices by the modern micro-fabrication techniques. They can be used in themselves as micro-scale reactors for complex colloidal materials or form segmented flow reactors for nano-particle synthesis, in which the residence time distribution is narrow enough for high quality products. Recently, their functions are expanded to biological study for investigating the function of proteins by crystallizing them inside droplets successfully. In this presentation, the recent advances of droplet-based microfluidics for materials fabrication and protein crystallization will be reviewed including our own research achievements. |
