Organic photovoltaic cells (OPVs) have drawn attention as promising technology for the production of renewable energy. Donor and acceptor materials are used in the active layer of OPVs and the development of donor materials is more progressing than that of acceptor materials because fullerene derivatives are used widely as an acceptor with their good electron mobility. However, non-fullerene acceptors have been introduced recently to overcome some disadvantages of fullerene derivatives such as difficult synthesis and weak absorption in the visible region. Non-fullerene acceptors can show red-shifted UV absorption and controllable frontier orbital energy levels. Meanwhile, dye materials such as 3-ethylrhodanine and 1,3-indandione have been used as strong electron-withdrawing units showing high performances. In this work, we introduced various dye units to synthesize acceptor materials and achieved power conversion efficiency of 3.08% with high open circuit voltage of 1.03 V. |
