The M-Ti-O mixed metal oxide catalysts (M= Ni, Fe, Cu, Ce, and Zn) have been synthesized, and applied to a chemical looping (CL) process for an oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane (ODH) to ethylene by a reduction step on the metal oxides and subsequently CO2 activation to CO by oxidation step of the reduced metal oxides. The FeTiOx showed the ethane conversion of 10.9% and ethylene selectivity of 82.8% at a reduction step of 550 oC. From a subsequent oxidation step at 700 oC, CO was produced with the amount of 0.1 mmol/gcat by CO2 activation as well. Structural details and surface properties of the MTiOx catalysts were characterized by N2 sorption, TGA, XRD, XPS and TPR analysis to verify the active sites for the CL reaction of ethane and CO2. |
