Dimer-acid based polyamide (DPAP) is one of popular hot melt adhesives for packaging, book binding and inks. Recently, DAPA is also utilized for assembling of electronic parts. For the successful application of hot melt adhesives, rheological properties of hot melt adhesives should be characterized. We have investigated effects of the graft copolymerization on the rheological properties of DAPA. For the synthesis of graft copolymer of DAPA, double bonds of dimer-acid moiety in commercial DAPA were reacted with olefinic resin with dicumyl peroxide (DCP) at 150℃. The graft copolymerization was confirmed with FTIR, DSC and tensile tests. Rheological properties of DAPA modified by the graft copolymerization were studied employing s parallel plate rheometer. Viscosity of the DAPA increased with increasing the content of branch unit by the graft copolymerization. |
