제목 Post-modification of Mesoporous MIL-101 with Brønsted Acid Sites for Capture of Radioactive CH3I in Humid Environments
초록 The development of efficient adsorbents to remove radioactive methyl iodide (CH3I) in humid environments is crucial for air purification after nuclear power plant waste spills. Here, we successfully prepared a series of the post-synthetically modified MIL-101s with a Brønsted acid group followed by the ion-exchange of Ag. Functionalized MIL-101s were obtained by either one-pot synthesis (MIL-101-SO3Ag) or a post-synthetic modification process (MIL-101-NH(CH2)3SO3Ag) to remove the CH3I at 0.31 ppm and RH 95%. Physico-chemical properties of samples were characterized by XRD, XPS, FT-IR, ICP and the enhanced hydrophobicity was evaluated by the hydrophobic index (HI) with the competitive adsorption of water and cyclohexane vapor. Remarkably, the post-synthetically modified MIL-101-RSO3Ag showed exceptional adsorption performance as determined by its high decontamination factor at 303 K and RH 95% and maintained ~94–100% of its fresh adsorbent performance during five cycle repetitions.
