제목 Competitive Cell Attachment on Cell Repellent Polymer Surfaces
초록 PMMA-b-PEG and PMMA-b-PEG-SO3 have been successfully synthesized by radical polymerization. The physical and chemical properties of polymers were investigated by GPC, 1H-NMR, contact angle measurement and FT-IR. Cells were seeded on PMMA-b-PEG or PMMA-b-PEG-SO3 micropatterns in serum-containing or serum-free media. The micropatterns of cell-resistant polymers provided chemophysical barriers for the selective cell attachment. While both polymers were cell repellent, PMMA-b-PEG-SO3 was more resistance to cell attachment because of its increased hydrophilicity and static electronegative surface. Controlling surface hydrophilicity is critical in cell micropatterning. In addition, sulfonated PEG brushes on the cell repellent polymer enable the more reliable fabrication of cell micropatterns while limiting nonspecific cell binding on the background. It will be applicable to a biotechnology toolbox especially for use in bioMEMS, biosensensors, tissue engineering and cell biology.
