제목 | Water-soluble binder system with controlled mechanical and rheological properties |
초록 | A new binder system, containing ternary polymer blends of polyethylene glycol (PEG), cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB), and poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), was introduced for the powder injection molding of stainless steel powder having the average particle diameter of 8 µm to improve flexural modulus and flow stability during injection molding. The weight fraction of PEG in the binder was maintained to be 0.65, while the weight fraction of CAB changed from 0.15 to 0.25. CAB/PMMA blend showed the phase behavior having a lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of 142 oC. Also, two other blends in the binder (CAB/PEG and PEG/PMMA) exhibited LCST and fully miscibility higher than 190 oC, respectively. Thus, all binders showed complete miscibility during mixing and injection molding at 130 oC. Because PEG, the major component of the binder, is easily extracted by solvent of water or ethanol, the extraction process becomes environmentally favorable. We found that shape maintenance during the extraction was excellent, and final sintered parts had excellent dimensional stability. |
