We have produced macroporous silica materials by using emulsion or polymeric particles as template. By adding and mixing silicone oil with surfactant solution of polyoxyethylene nonylphenyl ether, micronsized o/w emulsion (70 wt%) is prepared and then sub-micrometer-sized o/w emulsion were prepared by mechanical shearing with homogenizer. Prepared emulsion was blended with the precursor solution which are prepared by mixing tetramethylorthosilicate and hydrochloric solution. Mixture of emulsion and silica precursor were spin-coated on substrate and gelled by coating ammonia solution. Then, coated films of emulsion and silica gel was aging in the oven and then annealed at 700℃ for 1hr, which produced sub-micrometer-sized pores in silica matrix. For patterned macroporous materials, we have used pin-printing mixture of emulsion and precursors. |
