Physical properties of vegetable oil using a transesterification reaction influences biodiesel quality. We performed six refined vegetable oils were transesterificated using potassium hydroxide as catalyst and reaction conditions(reaction time, 1h: weight of catalyst, 1wt.% of initial oil weight; methyl alcohol/oil mole ratio, reaction temperature and stirring time). Fatty acid methyl esters contents were measured according tothe international standard test. In this study, relations between the composition of vegetables oils and physical properties such as freezing point, viscosity, special gravity, acid value and heating value, were correlated with methyl ester composition of each biodiesel. |
