Formation and growth of uniform poly(divinylbenzene) spheres by seeded polymerization using the dynamic swelling method |

7 ㎛ sized monodispersed poly(divinylbenzene) (PDVB) particles were successfully produced by seeded polymerization of DVB in a methanol/water medium in the presence of 2 ㎛ sized monodisperse PDVB seed particles. The PDVB seed particles produced by precipitation polymerization can also absorb a large amount of DVB by dynamic swelling method (DSM). The formation and growth of PDVB particles were monitored by an optical microscopy and SEM. The size of PDVB particles controlled by the amount of seeded swelling monomer or water. |
