Dopamine (DA), as one of catecholamine family of neurotransmitters, is crucially important in humans. Abnormal level of dopamine in the central nervous system caused several neurological diseases, e.g. schizophrenia, Parkinson’s disease, and ADHD/ADD. In this report we fabricate immobilized Pt nanoparticle decorated 3-carboxylated polypyrrole nanoparticle (Pt_CPPy) for use as a non-enzyme FET sensor to detect DA. Pt_CPPy-based non-enzyme FET sensors exhibit high sensitivity toward DA at unprecedentedly low concentrations (100 fM). Also they represent high selectivity toward DA among several interfering biomolecules and longer lifetime than other practical FET sensors. |
