Preparation of surface modifiers for multi-walled carbon nanotubes through nitroxide mediated polymerization technique and their application in counter electrodes for dye-sensitized solar cells |

In this presentation, polymeric surface modifiers containing pendant pyrene units for multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) were prepared through nitroxide mediated polymerization (NMP) technique. The surfaces of MWCNTs were modified through “polymer-wrapping” technique using the copolymers and pastes containing the modified MWCNTs were prepared. The fabrications of counter electrodes for dyesensitized solar cells (DSSC) were then attempted using the pastes, and their properties were investigated. Improved morphological homogeneity was observed in the presence of the surface modifiers, which resulted in improved electrical properties and solar cell efficiencies.
