In this work, the influence of the amount of quinoline insoluble (QI) on the oxidation behaviors of carbon/carbon (C/C) composites with binder pitches was studied. C/C composites were fabricated by cycles of impregnation/carbonization using two types of the binder pitches with different QI contents. To evaluate the oxidation behaviors of the composites, the oxidation kinetic study of all specimens were carried out using the vertically mounted furnace between 800 and 1000℃ in an oxidizing environment. The mechanical properties of the composites were investigated using a constant speed wear test apparatus in an oxidation environment. The mechanical properties and microstructure of the composites were discussed in interlaminar shear strength (ILSS), flexural strength, raman spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction (XRD). |
