제목 Influence of amine grafted graphene on the properties of polypropylene nanocomposites
초록 Graphene has received significant attention in recent years owing to its outstanding electronic, thermal and mechanical properties. In the present report, we have attempted to functionalize graphene by introducing amine groups on the surface and studied its influence on the properties of polypropylene (PP) nanocomposites. Graphene oxide (GO) prepared through chemical exfoliation of graphite are functionalized with alkyl amines with varying chain length via a two step amidation process. The functionalized graphene with varying wt % loading are incorporated in PP through melt processing in the presence of maleic anhydride-g-polypropylene (MA-PP) compatibilizer. Loading of functionalized graphene significantly improves the mechanical and electrical properties of PP nanocomposites corroborating the enhanced polymer-graphene interaction and fine dispersion of graphene in the PP matrix.
