제목  The properties of resol type phenolic beads depending on their cross-linking density
초록 Resol type phenolic beads were synthesized by water-suspension polymerization. The synthesized phenolic beads, due to their high cross-linking density, hardly shrinked and their compression strength was decreased dramatically during carbonization. o-Cresol was used in order to control the cross-linking density of phenolic beads. Due to the differences in the reactivity of phenol and cresol with formaldehyde, cresol oligomers were pre-synthesized, and were mixed with phenolic oligomers before copolymerization reaction. The cross-linking density of phenolic resin was measured with the tensile test after swelling, and was related with the yield of carbonization, compression strength, shrinkage during carbonization, and so on.
