제목 The Wide Blue Phase Temperature Range of Cyano Chiral Nematic Liquid Crystal Mixtures having Different Core Group
초록 Blue phase(BP) is a liquid crystal having three-dimensional cubic structure with lattice periods of several hundreds µm. By this huge period of the order of the wavelength of visible light, BPs exhibit the selective Bragg reflections light in the visible light range. Futhermore, BP has several hundreds µs of response time due to and not surface alignment as rubbing process due to self alignment. However BP has difficulties in the commercialization because of very narrow temperature range less than 1K. Recently, BP temperature range is extended by polymer and nano particle stabilization BP. But, BP polymer stabilization induced higher driving voltage and switching hysteresis compared to low molecular BP. In this study, BP temperature range depending on various types of core group cyano liquid crystal without polymer stabilization investigated in order to know the relationship between BP stability and molecular structure. Also we measured eletro-optical property of these mixtures.
