제목 Antioxidant biodegradable polymer nanoparticles for the treatment of airway inflammatory diseases
초록 Hydroxybenzyl alcohol(HBA) is one of phenolic compounds in herbal agents and plays a pivotal role in protection against oxidative damage-related diseases due to anti-inflammatory effects. We have developed a new biodegradable antioxidant copolyoxalate(HPOX), in which HBA is chemically incorporated into its backbone based on the hypothesis that peroxalate ester linkages in the backbone reacts with and scavenges hydrogen peroxide, leading the release of HBA. HPOX could be dispersed into a single emulsion for the formulation of nanoparticles which had a mean size ~500nm in diameter. The polymer nanoparticles showed antioxidant activity by suppressing the production of hydrogen peroxide and nitric oxide. The in vivo studies using a asthma murine model showed that HPOX nanoparticles exerted antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities by reducing the recruiment of eosinophils. This study implies that the HPOX nanoparticles is a promising treatment of airway inflammatory diseases.
