Fabrication of highly densified zirconia dental prostheses via conventional digital light processing (DLP) |

This study proposes a zirconia slurry with high solid loading for conventional digital light processing (DLP), which can produce the zirconia object having complex-shape. Zirconia slurry containing high content of zirconia powder inevitably exhibits high viscosity which affects limitation using conventional DLP. Therefore, zirconia slurry up to 45 vol% were fabricated using the conventional DLP by controlling the composition. For photocurable monomers in zirconia slurry, two types of photocurable binder with multi-functionality and photo-initiator were used for photopolymerization. Additionally, dispersant and diluent were used for decreasing the viscosity. Zirconia slurry with high solid loading (φ = 45 vol%) showed low viscosity and complex-shape specimens could be printed. And high densification of zirconia specimen was achieved after sintering and the measured relative density was 98.43 ± 0.46 %. Moreover, we evaluated several properties of the zirconia objects fabricated by conventional DLP to verify the significance. |
