Microalgae are photosynthetic organisms to produce potentially industrially important metabolites such as astaxanthin, β-carotene, PUFAs and phycobiliprotein etc. In order to enhance their productivity, researchers have developed many kinds of bioreactors and various cultivation methods. Systems biology started to attract researchers who want to increase productivity further. Researchers can model molecular and cellular phenomena of microalgae by integrated and interacting network of genes, proteins and biochemical reactions using large volume of omics data. After the accuracy of metabolic network is verified by mathematical methods, the model will help to increase the productivity as well as photosynthetic mechanism of these microalgae. |
