제목 | Evaluation of Bone Regenerative Potential in Critical Size Defect by Demeneralized Bone Matrix |
초록 | Bone grafts are frequently used in the treatment of bone defects. Bone harvesting can cause postoperative complications and sometimes does not provide a sufficient quantity of bone. Therefore, allo-bone and synthetic biomaterials have been investigated as an alternative to autogenous bone grafts. Allogenic demineralized bone matrix(DBM) is widely used as a bone graft substitute in orthopedics and dentistry. It has been used successfully to regenerate bone, but has different osteoinductive potential by different processing methods. The objective of this study was to evaluate the repair of critical size bone defects(CSD) by DBM prepared through an advanced processing procedures. Therefore, this study describe the preparation and characterization of DBM. The prepared DBM were characterized by in vitro alkaline phosphatase assay(ALP) using C2C12 myoblast cell line and also investigated in vivo animal test. On animal test, 8.0mm diameter full-thickness bone defect was made in the skulls of rats and each defect was either left empty(control defects) or filled with the DBM. The rats were sacrificed 2, 4, 8, and 12 weeks after surgery and tissue samples were analyzed by radiography and histology. |
