Synthesis and Characterization of Novel Chiral Dopant fo cholesteric LC Display Application |

CLC(Cholesteric liquid crystasls) draw great attention due to their potential in various applications such as the key materials for displays. CLC possess helical molecular orientation which is in duced by a chiral dopant molecules mixed with nematic liquid crystals. They reflect circularly polarized incident light of the same handedness as the cholesteric helix. The wavelength band of the reflected polarize light is depended on the helical pitch. A novel chiral dopant was synthesized from chiral naphtyl amine by two step reaction. HTP(helical twisting power) is one of the most important property of CLC. We measured the HTP property by using UV-Vis spectrometer. In this work we synthesized a novel chiral dopant and investigated the properties of this chiral dopant. |
