Binder-free TiO2 electrode for flexible plastic DSSCs |

Flexible plastic DSSCs are attracting much attention for commercial applications. But there are intrinsic problems with fabrication temperature for flexible plastic DSSCs because the coating of the TiO2 electrode is allowed at only low temperaure(~150°C). In this study, we introduced the binder-free TiO2 electrodes using electrospray method. Well-dispersed TiO2 solution was electrosprayed onto the FTO/glass and ITO/PEN substrates. Through this method, we obtained the TiO2 nanospheres which show hierarchical structure. But just drying up to 150°C is not enough to form strong adhesion, so it showed low conversion efficiency. For this reason, we apply hot-press method. Through this treatment, the conversion efficiency was increased nearly 60% compared to the non-pressed one. By optimizing the thickness of the TiO2 electrode, we attained conversion efficiency up to 6% for ITO/PEN film. Finally, we investigated the electrical characteristics of DSSCs by electrical impedance spectroscopy. |
