Synthesis of Epoxidized Vegetable Oil and Properties of PVC containing Vegetable Oil Plasticizer |

Vegetable oil plasticizers have been frequently studied in recent years. Plasticizers are materials added during processing or polymerization to facilitate the processing of polymer and improve the performance of the final product. In this study, we synthesized epoxidized castor oil and epoxidized soybean oil from castor oil and soybean oil. They were analyzed with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). These epoxidized castor oil and soybean oil may be environmentally friendly plasticizers for PVC. We integrated these plasticizers to PVC to conduct a test on thermal, physical properties and morphologies by using differential scanning calorimeter(DSC), universal testing machine(UTM), and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). |
