V2O5 is deemed as one of ubiquitous catalytic phases to reduce NOX with NH3 (SCR) or oxidize NH3 (SCO) upon the promotion with an oxidized element present in the periodic table. Additional improvement of catalytic V2O5 phase is enabled by its chemical fusion with 4f-block rare-earth metals (RM). This leads to the creation of a series of iso-structural RMVO4 phases, whose acidic, redox, and catalytic properties can be tuned by altering the type of RM or changing the stoichiometry of RM:V. In this presentation, we clarify the relationship of ‘structure versus SCR or SCO consequences’ for the RMVO4 phases and showcase the unique surface traits of the RMVO4 phases under regulated environments.
