제목 NONLINEAR OPTICAL POLYIMIDE VIEWING HIGH POLING EFFICIENCY DUE TO INTRINSICALLY ARRANGED CHROMOPHORES
초록 We designed and synthesized a macromolecular chromophore structure for nonlinear optical devices. The new type of the molecule structure contains conventional chromophores and hyperbranched molecular skeletons. These chromophores were incorporated into a linear polyimide backbone through chemical reaction and fully analyzed for optical communication devices. The feature of the polymer structure is a high loading density of a chromophore and intrinsic alignment by a bonding molecule between chromophores. The chromophore content within NLO-polymers was controllable with ca. 30~70%(wt/wt) depending on introducing molecules. Electro-optic coefficients(r33) were measured at 1.3 and 1.55 μm wavelengths and compared with conventional side chain NLO-polyimides. The nonlinearity of the polymer was enhanced upto 32pm/V of r33 (@1.55μm) when an electric contact poling was carried out under DC 100V/μm. It was found that these polymers aligned more effectively than general side chain polymers. The thermal stability of poled polymer films was observed toward several temperatures and time.
