Synthetic biodegaradable thermosensitive hydrogels offer several advantages such as easy control of biodegradability, gelation property, biocompatability, and simple formation with therapeutic drug. Silibinin, which is the major active constituent of silymarin, has been reported to have both antitumor and antiangiogenic effect. Its biomedical application is limited because of its poor water solubility. We synthesized biodegradable thermosensitive poly(organophosphazene) composed of α-amino-ω-methoxy-poly (ethylene glycol), L-isolecine ethyl ester and glycine latate ethyl ester as side groups. The synthesized polymers have several advantages such as the enhanced solubility of silibinin and gelation at body temperature. For the injectable drug delivery appliation, the silibinin release behavior and the in vivo antitumor effect of poly(organophosphazene) containing soluble were studied. |
