Synthesis and Self-Assembly of Europium (III) Complexes Bearing 1,3,5-Tris(acetoacetamido)benzene and Phenanthrolines |

The lanthanoid complexes have been widely studied due to their unique luminescent properties, especially narrow phosphorescence emission with a high color purity. Since inter- and/or intramolecular energy transfers occur from the ligands to the metal ions, the structure of the ligands strongly influences the luminescent properties. In this research, the europium complexes were synthesized by using 1,3,5-tris(acetoacetamido)benzene having ß-diketonates as a core ligand and a phenanthroline derivative with three alkoxy groups as a peripheral ligand. These europium complexes showed self-assembly properties such as thermotropic mesomorphism and gelation in aliphatic solvents. |
