Self-healing polymers are desirable material for various applications due to its increased lifetime, durability and efficiency. Many reactions have been used to obtain self-healing property, among them, Diels-Alder reaction has been widely used because of its thermal reversible nature, which is ideal quality for self healing material. In this study, Diels-Alder reaction between furan functionalized polymer and maleimide cross-linker occurred and characterized. Stable film was casted successfully and crack healing experiment was performed. Also, to obtain the suitable mechanical properties for various applications, other furan-functionalized compounds were synthesized and blended into polymer adduct. |
