Electronic ink displays, also called microencapsulated electrophoretic image display, have many industrial advantages such as low power consumption, reflectivity, and wide view angle. Especially, development of color electrophoretic ink is considered to be crucial in commercializing the full color display. To apply organic pigments as color electrophoretic particles, organic pigments were encapsulated with poly(styrene-co-vinyl imidazole) using two step polymerization. Characteristics of the product particles such as morphology and thermal property were examined using SEM and TGA, and an electrophoresis light scattering measurement was also applied for the modified particles dispersed in the Isopar-G as low dielectric medium. Moreover, the effect of charge control agent (OLOA1200) on the zeta potential of the suspended particles in low dielectric solution was further investigated. |
