제목 Low Dielectric Constant of Bismate Glasses with Nano Silica for Transparent Dielectric
초록 Plasma display panel (PDP) requires low power consumption, high efficacy and PbO-free glass systems because of environmental regulations and more competitive power than any other flat panel displays. Recently, materials have been used with PbO-free glass systems for transparent dielectric, barrier ribs, white dielectric and sealing material in PDP. One of glass systems, bismate (Bi2O3-B2O3-ZnO) glass system is extensively used for transparent dielectric in PDP. However, PbO and bismate glass system has around dielectric constant of 10~15. The dielectric constant is correlated to the power consumption in PDP. Therefore, many researchers have developed glass systems to reduce the dielectric constant for low power consumption. The aim of our work is to lower dielectric constant of the transparent dielectric based on the bismate glass with nano silica. It is widely known that silica has dielectric constant of 3.5. We prepared nano silica powder (110nm and 11nm) as a filler and mixed with bismate frits. After firing at 580oC for 30min, the transmittance of thick film was determined using an UV-visible spectroscopy. The composites composed of bismate glass frit and silica were investigated on thermal and dielectric properties using TG-DTA and LCR meter. Based on our result, the transmittance of the thick film was as the same as that of bismate glass frit. The dielectric constant of the mixture was lower than that of bimate glass frit as we expected. It is possible that the thick film of the mixture can act as a transparent dielectric to replace of high dielectric constant lead oxide and bismate.
