제목 Preparation of microencapsulation using melamine-formaldehyde prepolymer & maleic anhydride
초록 Microencapsulation was used for the applications of microelectronics and biomaterials, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, medicals, paint industry.1,2 Mechanically strong and optically clear microcapsules have been especially demanded in the field. In this work, synthesis of microcapsule was conducted using melamine-formaldehyde prepolymer and maleic anhydride at pH 4~5. Incorporation of Maleic anhydride improved flexibility of capsule shell promoted crosslinking reaction of shell simultaneously. The capsule shell was characterized in terms of transparency and flexibility. The size of microcapsules was controlled by core density, polarity, various stabilizers, surfactant content and stirring speed. The high surfactant concentration generated smaller microcapsules. Furthermore, the average size of microcapsules was reduced with decreasing core density. Examinations on various reaction conditions were critically analyzed, resulting in establishment of stable microcapsule system.
