제목 | Kinetics for Degradation of Polystyrene in Supercritical Fluids |
초록 | It was discussed the kinetic behavior of degradation of polystyrene in supercritical fluids. n-hexane and water were employed as a supercritical solvent. The degradation of PS in supercritical n-hexane and water as well as the thermal pyrolysis was presumed to follow the first-order reaction kinetics in the initial stage of the reaction. From the Arrhenius plots, the activation energies were evaluated to be 224 kJ/mol for the thermal pyrolysis and 140 kJ/mol for the degradation in supercritical n-hexane. It was apparent that the degradation in supercritical n-hexane can take place at lower temperatures than the thermal pyrolysis. The activation energy of degradation using supercritical water was also compared with that of degradation in supercritical n-hexane and thermal pyrolysis. |
