Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT) functionalized with a water-soluble self-doped polyaniline, poly(aniline N-butylsulfonate) (PANBUS), were prepared by ex-situ solution mixing. The morphology of SWNT with PANBUS was investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). An improvement in the thermal stability of PANBUS in the composites was found by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Electron probe micro analysis (EPMA), FT-IR, Raman spectroscopy and UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy were employed to characterize the CNT contents and chemical structure of the PANBUS-SWNT. The PANBUS- functionalized SWNT are highly dispersible in water, thus opening new possibilities for their prospective technological applications. |
