Electroluminescent (EL) properties of a metal-chelate polymer have been investigated from the organic light-emitting diodes. The europium-chelate polymer containing the dihydroxy derivative of trans-1,2-dipyridylethene, α-pyridoin, was synthesized and its EL properties were characterized. The structure was elucidated by FT-IR, FT-NMR, UV-Vis, XPS, and the molecular weight was estimated by GPC. The thermal stability and melting point were measured by DSC and TGA. UV-Vis spectrum showed maximum absorption peaks on 257nm and 201nm. The photoluminescent (PL) properties were measured from solid film of the europium chelate polymer (PEu) on quartz and in ethanol solution. The solution of PEu emits green light at 510nm, which was excited by the light of 310nm wavelength. The film of PEu emits red light. Electroluminescent (EL) devices were fabricated by spin coating, and its EL properties were investigated. |
