Ion transport in phosphonated polymers |

Phosphonic acid functionalized polymers have emerge as promising candidates towards high temperature polymer electrolyte membranes because of its amphoteric characteristic and high degree of self-dissociation. This allows the effective hydrogen bonding interactions to promote proton transport under dry conditions. In this study, we report the synthesis of a series of phosphonted polymers with precise control over the location and number density of acid groups. Ionic conductivity of the synthesized polymers was investigated with the addition of various ionic liquids, revealing that the importance of local concentration of acid groups in improving the efficacy of ion transport in phosphonated polymers. |
