Enhanced Photoelectrochemical Water Oxidation Efficiency by Zn or Mo doped BiVO4 Photoanode |

Photoelectrochemical water splitting is a technology to produce hydrogen and oxygen environmentally friendly from water resource and solar energy. A monoclinic BiVO4 has attracted attention as a promising oxygen evolution catalyst material because it has suitable optical properties such as band gap and band edge for water oxidation. However, effective photoelectrochemical performance is limited by poor electronic characteristics with its single material. In this study, we introduced a doping strategy to enhance the photoelectrochemical and electrical performance via facile sol-gel spin coating method. We demonstrated the Zn and Mo-doped BiVO4 thin film photoanodes by controlling the concentration of the dopants and the film thickness. The optimized photoanodes were investigated by photoelectrochemical, optical and structural measurements for identifying the enhancement of the doped BiVO4. |
