We synthesized a series of PEG-Polypeptide diblock copolymers. The PEGylated polypeptide solutions undergo “clear sol-to-clear gel” transition as the temperature increases at a low concentration in chloroform, whereas it is a clear sol in dimethyl sulfoxide. These PEGylated polypeptides form a micelle in chloroform and the intrinsic viscosity of the PEG decreases as the temperature increases. Therefore, the intermicellar aggregation might occur by the shrunken PEG blocks, leading to form a gel. The properties of the organogels were compared by TEM, NMR, DLS, and the viscosity measurement. |
