The role of molybdenum on modification of optical and structural properties of Mo-doped NiTiO3 materials |

Nickel titanium trioxide or nickel titanate (NiTiO3), a double transition metal oxide, has exhibited excellent properties for a photocatalytic material containing Ni and Ti with an octahedral coordination [MO6]. However, the nature of NiTiO3 is to have inherently poor light absorption in visible light region. In this study, we modified of NiTiO3 by doping molybdenum (Mo) through a Pechini method followed by a solvothermal treatment process to prepare nanosize MNT products. Mo addition is desired to enhance optical property of NiTiO3 based on the charge transfer mechanism. The Mo doping to NiTiO3 materials changed not only their characteristics but also their performance under photons irradiation. The aim of this paper was to prepare high purity MNT samples and investigate the influence of Mo doping on the structural and optical properties of MNT materials through diverse characterization methods. |
