High Efficiency Polymer Solar Cells Using Spray Methods |

Polymer solar cells (PSCs) were fabricated using a novel film spray deposition method.The performance of PSCs was primarily influenced by the inherent film morphology of the sprayed polymer blend active layers which was significantly different from that of the conventional films that were formed using the spin-coating (SC) method. The intrinsically formed interfacial boundaries between the sprayed blend pancakes resisted the charge transport, which unfavorably influenced the device efficiency. The internal series resistance of the PSCs that were formed using spray methodwas significantly reduced through the solvent vapor soaking (SVS) treatment in addition to the conventional thermodynamic nanomorphology controls. The detailed relationship between the morphologies (film morphology and internal nanomorphology) and theinternal resistancewas revealed using impedance spectroscopy. The performance of the sprayed PSCs was comparable to the PSC that were fabricated using the SC method under identical conditions. |
