Carbon Supported Molybdenum Phosphide as Hydrogen Evolution Reaction |

The uniformly loaded molybdenum phosphide (MoP) electrocatalysts on N-doped several carbon supports were synthesized via hydrogen TPR method for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). The CNT-GR supports consists of well intercalated carbon nanotube (CNT) supports between graphene(GR) layers by preventing graphene re-stacking to serve high surface area. The MoP supported on CNT-GR supports shows highest HER activity that that of CNT and GR supported catalysts with around 50mV onset overpotential and 150 mV vs RHE overpotential to drive 10 mA/cm2 in acidic medium. To increase HER activity, we introduced nitrogen in carbon supports. The MoP/NCNT-NGR catalysts show 50 mV VS RHE onset overpotential and 120 mV VS RHE overpotential at 10mA/cm2 current density. And in stability test, it retains the current density after 24 hours chronoamperometric analysis and 1000 cycles cyclic voltammetric tests. The MoP/NCNT-NGR is highly active and stable electrocatalysts for HER in acidic medium |
