Catalytic wet oxidation of refractory organic compounds, such as EG (ethylene glycol), DST (terephthalic acid disodium salt) and PVA (polyvinylalcohol), from dyeing wastewater was investigated regarding the TOC (Total Organic Carbon) removal efficiency of the various metals. Catalysts were prepared by direct synthesis method using SBA-15 type mesoporous silica as a support. Nitrate salt of the Fe, Cu, Cr and Mn were used as a precursor for the active metal component. Characteristics of each catalysts were analysed by N2 adsorption, SAXS (Small Angle X-Ray Scattering), XRD (X-Ray Diffraction) and ICP-AES (Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectroscopy) methods. Catalytic wet oxidation reactions in a batch reactor were conducted at the milder conditions of temperatures below 90℃ and ambient pressure. TOC removal efficiency of each catalysts were evaluated by measuring H2O2 concentration, COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) and TOC of the samples withdrawn from the reacting medium.
