Haematococcus pluvialis, an unicellular green microalgae, has been attracting attention by its ability of high accumulation level of astaxanthin. We cultured H. pluvialis at indoor and outdoor conditions. The cultivation conditions, temperature is 20~25℃, light intensity is 0~300 umol photon/m2s, were maintained constantly and a 25L polymer film type photobioreactor was used for cultivation. At these conditions, H. pluvialis accumulated astaxanthin 130mg/L in 76 days and this is a better result compared to that of indoor condition cultivation at small scale. Finally, we expect this result can be applied to industrial photobioreactor cultivation of H. pluvialis. |
