Facilitated olefin transport nanocomposite membrane by TCNQ (7,7,8,8-tetracyano quinodimethane) was prepared to achieve the high mixed-gas permeance. Poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO), silver tetrafluoroborate and TCNQ were used as polymer matrix, nanoparticle precursors and electron acceptors, respectively. For the case of PEO/AgNPs/TCNQ membrane system, the positively charged AgNPs by TCNQ was expected to have the strong reversible affinity to olefin molecules. Actually, mixed-gas permeance and selectivity of the membrane were about 23 GPU and of 6, respectively. Unfortunately, the separation performance showed the poor long-term stability possibly due to phase separation of TCNQ even though they showed the relatively high permeance. The positive charged AgNPs properties were investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). |
