Functional Montelukast Imprinted Inulin Based Biomaterials for Anti-Asthma treatment |

The main objective of this study were to prepare montelukast (MTL) imprinted biomaterials for anti-asthma treatment using inulin (INL), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), sunset yellow FCF (SY) as a light stabilizer, and plasticizers (glycerol (GL) and xylitol (XL)). The prepared biomaterials were characterized and evaluated for FE-SEM, FT-IR, and physical properties. The MTL release properties on SY added MTL imprinted biomaterials were examined under various pH and temperature conditions. Results indicated that MTL release in high pH and temperature was faster than in low pH and temperature. The MTL release properties was also investigated using artificial skin. The drug release of MTL imprinted biomaterials followed the Fickian diffusion mechanism, whereas the drug release using artificial skin followed the non-Fickian diffusion behavior. MTL imprinted biomaterials with the addition of press needle was also synthesized for the acute treatment and evaluated the drug release properties. |
