제목 Development of pH-Sensitive Hyaluronic Acid-MTX Nanomedicine for Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis
초록 Hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring polysaccharide, has been widely used for drug delivery because of their excellent biocompatibility, biodegradability, and targetability. Methotrexate (MTX), an analogue of folic acid, has been used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, and several forms of cancer. However, the clinical application of MTX is limited by its short plasma half-life and serious side effects. In an attempt to address these issues, we have designed and synthesized pH-sensitive HA-MTX conjugates through an esterification reaction. The HA-MTX conjugates demonstrated high therapeutic efficacy in vivo, compared to the free MTX.
