DMFC(Direct Methanol Fuel Cell) is the fuel cell used in portable devices. DMFC generates electric power by the methanol oxidation reaction in the anode and oxygen reduction reaction in the cathode. Methanol is provided into the anode in vapor feed or liquid feed. In this work, we simulate vapor-feed DMFC and analyze phenomena in it. In DMFC, methanol crossover is easily occurred by the high methanol permeability through the membrane and thus cell performance is reduced. Also, we can indicate that cell performance reduced by slow methanol diffusion and electrochemical reaction rate. |
