In this study, alcohol-soluble polyamide 6 (PA6) and silane were combined and used as sizing agents to improve the mechanical properties of the carbon fiber/PA6 composite. Carbon fiber surface properties were analyzed with Ultra high field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS), and Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR). Mechanical strength was analyzed by single fiber tensile test and internal shear strength (IFSS). After the hybrid sizing treatment, functional groups were introduced into the carbon fiber surface and the roughness increased. In addition, it was confirmed that tensile strength and IFSS were increased compared to commercialized carbon fiber. Therefore, it is judged that sizing the carbon fiber with a hybrid sizing agent is an effective method to improve the mechanical properties of the carbon fiber/PA6 composite. |
