A silica-based organic-inorganic hybrid coatings containing new sol-gel precursors were obtained by sol-gel process to protect iron substrates against corrosion. Sol-gel precursors containing anti-corrosion functional groups , 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilnae (GPTMS), diphenylsilanediol (DPSD), phenyltrimethoxysilane (PTS), and barium hydroxide as a catalyst were stirred at 90℃ for 2h. Depending on the amount of DPSD, the viscosity of the reaction mixture was dramatically changed and we optimized the amount of each ingredient. The mixture was coated on iron substrates by spin-coating and thermally cured at 80℃ for 1h and 160℃ for 3h. The wear resistance of sol-gel hybrid coatings was measured by pencil hardness test and anti-corrosion properties of sol-gel hybrid coatings were studied by salt spray test and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), the results will be discussed. |
