In this work, hypercrosslinked organic polymers were prepared by emulsion polymerization and friedel-crafts reaction. An alkali-soluble resin (ASR ; poly(styrene-co-acrylic acid)) was used as a polymeric emulsifier in the emulsion polymerization of vinylbenzyl chloride (VBC) / divinyl benzene (DVB) precursor nanoparticles. Highly porous nanoparticles were prepared via friedel-crafts reaction of the precursor using FeCl3, Lewis-acid catalyst. Friedel-crafts reaction of these precursors yields uniform microporous nanoparticles with extremely high surface area and micropore volume. It also was studied the effects of ASR concentration on the particle size. Particle size distribution, morphology of hypercrosslinked polymers were obtained by dynamic light scattering (DLS) and scanning electron microscope (SEM), respectively. |
